Adam M. Sachs
A first-year master’s student, Adam graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2009 with a B.A. in Global Studies. As an undergraduate, he fueled his lifelong passion for the ocean by freediving and spearfishing in the vibrant kelp forests surrounding Isla Vista. This led him to co-found the Santa Barbara Freedivers spearfishing club in 2008 and serve as club president from 2009-2010. For the last seven years, he has worked as a kayak guide and outdoor educator in Channel Islands National Park, leading single and multi-day trips focused on outdoor recreation while teaching concepts of marine science, cultural and natural history, and environmental stewardship. His experiences as a guide combined with a deep interest in marine fisheries, led him to the Bren School where he is specializing in Coastal Marine Resources Management.
