Andrew M. Steinkruger
A first-year master’s student, Andrew graduated from the University of Alaska, Anchorage in 2016 with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Spanish. In 2015, he learned modeling techniques for local and regional issues through an internship with consulting firm Northern Economics. Subsequently, research roles in the University of Alaska Institute for Social and Economic Research and the Alaska Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research spurred his interest in marine economics. Prior to starting his studies at the Bren School, Andrew held an internship with the National Sea Grant Office in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he supported federal grants management for research and extension programs in universities across the United States. Andrew plans to specialize in Coastal Marine Resources Management and Economics and Policy at the Bren School, with coursework focused on interdisciplinary approaches to regional ecological issues. He looks forward to finding a post-graduate role building solutions for economic problems in commercial fisheries and aquaculture operations.
